The Jakarta administration has succeeded in achieving 1 million third dose or booster vaccinations to prevent symptoms and the risk of being hospitalized or dying from exposure to Covid-19.

Until today, Thursday (2/17) at 8 AM, as many as 1,071,769 people have received booster shots.

Jakarta Health Agency (Dinkes) Head, Widyastuti said this achievement is something that must be appreciated and needs support from all parties to continuously accelerate the booster shot.

"Booster is very effective to protect us from Covid-19 and weaken symptoms that occur due to virus exposure. Until today, as many as 12,167,624 people had received the first dose and 10,131,587 had received the second dose. Nevertheless, we have to be more disciplined to comply with health protocols and be aware of the transmission of the Omicron variant which is currently increasing in Jakarta," she expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Thursday (2/17).

Based on the results of a study conducted by the Health Ministry with researchers from the University of Padjadjaran (UNPAD) and the University of Indonesia UI), the increase in antibodies that occurred in the half-dose AstraZeneca booster vaccine could reach 23.5 times at a vaccination distance of 3-6 months from the second dose.

As for the increase in antibodies formed at a distance of 6-9 months of vaccination after the second dose of vaccination, it could reach 49.7 times. Then in the half-dose Pfizer booster vaccine, the antibody increase could reach 48.9 times from a distance of 3-6 months after the second dose.

if the third dose was administered 6-9 months after the second dose, the antibody increase could be up to 80.6 times.

"Therefore, we set the timing of the third dose at 6-9 months after the second dose, which aims to boost the antibody that occurs higher than the booster at less than 6 months," she explained.

As for the information, the target of the booster shot is people aged 18 and over, by prioritizing the elderly and people with immune problems.
