DRD: Polder Development is Needed to Overcome Floods

"Floods are relatively worse in the west and east. What is being done now is according to need," he said, Sunday (2/20).

According to him, the polder system could be optimized with the availability of back-up pump facilities to overcome obstacles in conveying water. The availability of pumps can be adjusted to the conditions of each region.

He cited, at Pluit Reservoir, there are seven pumps running every day. So, backup is really needed.

"This pump is very important. What must be considered is the capacity, backup, and age of the pump," he concluded.
