Pembangunan Polder Mampu Mengatasi Genangan di Kawasan Kelapa Gading

Kelapa Gading Polder Construction is Important to Overcome Flooding

This is done together in one work package with a contract period of 13 months or until December 2022

As reported earlier, the Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Agency had started the construction of Kelapa Gading Polder as an important effort to overcome flooding in Kelapa Gading Sub-district, North Jakarta.

Drainage Maintenance Division Head, Yursid Suryanegara said, it is a priority program including construction of Gendong River wall in front of Artha Gading Mall, elevation of Sunter River wall, construction of two pump houses plus its accessories in Betik River and Gendong River, including five sluice gates along Betik River.

Kelapa Gading Traffic Diverted for Kelapa Gading Polder Project

"This is done together in one work package with a contract period of 13 months or until December 2022. We target to finish it at least this month," he expressed, Friday (11/26).

Related with Gendong River wall, there would be sheetpile attachment on both sides along 500 meters, likewise with Sunter River wall that would be elevated using concrete in order to accommodate rainwater in large quantities.

"After it is done, the water from Gendong River can quickly be pumped to Sunter River, because of large pump capacity, which is seven meters per second. By so, Kelapa Gading area will be free of flooding," he explained.

He added, the function of five crucial sluice gates along Betik River from the north end of Kelapa Gading Urban Village to the south end of Pegangsaan Urban Village can hold water if the water is full. Thus, it is easily closed and pumped into Sunter River.

"Hopefully this project can be completed faster and can protect residents from flooding," he hoped.
