As many as 27,293 Jakarta residents categorized as lower-income people are requesting for payment relief on the Land and Building Tax (PBB). It leads to the decline in the tax's local revenue (PAD). Evidently, until early December, the amount of the PBB is reaching Rp 5.3 trillion or about 83 percent from initial target by Rp 6.5 trillion.

"From our data, there are 27,293 people who request for payment relief, following the hike policy in the taxable value of property (NJOP) this year," said Head of Jakarta Tax Service Department, Iwan Setiawandi, Monday (12/8).

City Tax Revenue till November Rp 22.93 T

Setiawandi explained, the percentage of PBB tariff relief that has been given to tens of thousands of residents is varied. Maximally, 50 percent for residents and 75 for veterans must be compliance with the PBB amount that has been paid. "When being calculated, we set Rp 111 billion of PBB tariff to 27,293 people who request for payment relief," he explained.

Although it is not yet reaching the target, he stated, the PBB revenue this year is higher than last year's target by Rp 3.2 trillion.

"Our target is indeed not yet achieved. But the PBB revenue this year is higher than last year's target," he told.
