Youth and Sports Ministry Issued Recommendation Letter on Lebak Bulus Stadium Demolition

The recommendation letter of Lebak Bulus Stadium demolition for the construction of Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) depot is finally published by the Youth and Sports Ministry. As a matter of fact, the letter has been signed by Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nachrowi and handed out to President Joko Widodo.

“It (recommendation letter of Lebak Bulus Stadium demolition for MRT depot construction) has been signed, because I don’t want to be considered as obstructing development in Jakarta,” stated Nachrowi after meeting Jakarta Governor Basuki ‘Ahok’ Tjahaja Purnama at City Hall, Monday (12/8).
Since the recommendation letter has been published, Youth and Sports Ministry asked Jakarta Provincial Government to prepare the replacement stadium. For information, Lebak Bulus Stadium replacement will be built in BMW Park. Later, the stadium will have adequate facilities with international standards.

Responding that, Ahok replied that as soon as the recommendation letter is published, Jakarta Provincial Government directly held the auction process for Lebak Bulus Stadium demolition.
“The demolition auction process is currently running,” he told.
In order not to disturb MRT construction process, Ahok hopes for the Lebak Bulus Stadium demolition to be conducted according to schedule. While regarding BMW Park problem, Jakarta Provincial Government will immediately solve it.
About the recommendation letter, it is Youth and Sports Minister Decree No. 0901/2014 about Recommendation on Destruction and/or Re-function of Sports Infrastructure of Lebak Bulus Stadium become Mass Rapid Transit.
The letter also mentioned about the location of land replacement for Lebak Bulus Stadium in accordance to Jakarta Governor Decree dated October 10, 2014, which is on Jalan RE Martadinata/Sunter Permai, Papanggo Urban Village, Tanjung Priok Sub-District, North Jakarta.
