Rp 1.2 T to Build Asian Games Athletes Guesthouse

Jakarta Provincial Government is ready to disburse trillions of rupiah to support the implementation of the 2018 Asian Games in which Jakarta becomes one of the city hosts in this biggest sports event in Asia. Fund as much as Rp 1.2 trillion has been prepared to build guesthouse that could accommodate thousands of athletes and officials from participating countries.

Everything has been budgeted in the 2015 City Budget (APBD). For guesthouse alone, the budget allocated is around Rp 1.2 trillion

“Everything has been budgeted in the 2015 City Budget (APBD). For guesthouse alone, the budget allocated is around Rp 1.2 trillion,” stated Head of Jakarta Development Planning Board (Bappeda), Andi Baso Mapapolenro, Monday (3/11).

In addition, Jakarta Provincial Government also allocates budget as much as Rp 1.2 trillion to build Bersih Manusiawi Wibawa (BMW) Stadium at Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta. This stadium is expected to be the main stadium aside Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium. The groundbreaking of the stadium itself has been done by former Jakarta Governor Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo some time ago.

“All of the construction I think would be multi-years (budget), including to renovate the velodrome in East Jakarta that costs Rp 800 billion,” he told.

According to Mapapolenro, until now there is no problem on coordination with the central government, or in this case is the Youth and Sports Ministry. Although the minister has changed from Roy Suryo in former president SBY era to Imam Nachrowi in current president Jokowi era, the coordination is still running well.

“We already know our duties,” he said.

Besides Jakarta, two other cities that will host the 2018 Asian Games are Bandung and Palembang. For this event, Acting Jakarta Governor Tjahaja Basuki Purnama has signed the appointment of Jakarta as a host in Incheon, South Korea, some time ago.
