An Angke River located at Kapuk Muara Urban Village, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, began to be dredged, in order to anticipate flooding in rainy season. The river was previously having 20 meters deep and now only left 0.5-2 meters.
Due to the river silting, the flooding as high as 1.5 meters is predicted to inundate the site during rainy season. While the flood-prone areas are located in RW 01, 04 and 05 Kapuk Muara Urban Village.

"Angke River is one of the rivers that experiencing severe silting than other rivers. As planned, the dredging will be carried out for 1.5 months," he stated, Tuesday (12/9).
He explained, the river will be dredged up to 200 meters high with 8 meters deep by deploying two excavators and five trucks of Jakarta Public Works Department.
Kapuk Muara Urban Village Vice Head, Indrianto added due to mud in the river, thousands of citizens are always haunted by flood. "Besides rainy season, our village is also often inundated by tidal wave," he expressed.
