BBM Naik, Jumlah Pengguna KRL Meningkat

Fuel Price Hike, KRL Passengers Increasing Significantly

The subsidized fuel (BBM) price hike since November 17 has caused the amount of train passengers increasing significantly.

Since there is passengers surge, we add 31 departures, especially in rush hour, from previously 693 departures every day

According to PT KAI Commuter Jabodetabek Communication Manager, Eva Chairunisa, before fuel price hike the train passengers were between 650,000-700,000 people. Now, the amount is predicted increasing up to 750,000 passengers of all electric train (KRL) trips in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi (Jabodetabek).

“Train passengers are increasing, but we don’t know the exact number yet because the report is at the end of month,” she uttered, Wednesday (12/10).

PT KAI will Improve Train Stations and Arrange Railway Crossings

Chairunisa explained that the amount of KRL passengers is increasing because there is no tariff hike. As known, KRL tariff for the first five stations is only Rp 2,000 and additional Rp 500 for the next three stations per passenger.

“Since there is passengers surge, we add 31 departures, especially in rush hour, from previously 693 departures every day,” she stated.
