Jakarta Secretariat Discusses Jakarta's Future Culture

Regarding the aspiration of cultural existence in the Jakarta Specificity Bill, the Jakarta Secretariat held a discussion with cultural observers, Betawian intellectual leaders, and Jakarta Academic members at Block G, Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday (4/12).

Jakarta Culture Agency's Cultural Development Division Head Arif Rahman said the discussion was needed to see the importance of the cultural sector and the challenges in formulating the future of Jakarta.
"It is held to see Jakarta's culture in future challenges. As a multi-cultural city, it needs more attention from all elements for the cultural sector," he stated.

"We want Betawi culture to be preserved and maintained well thus Jakarta does not lose its identity," he asserted.
Meanwhile, a Jakarta Academic member named Marco Kusumawijaya conveyed that the specificity bill not only covered the business sector but all sectors, including arts and culture.
He considered the supporting facilities and infrastructure for the cultural sector are currently adequate, ranging from access to transportation and the availability of places for creative art performers.
"So, in my opinion, the specificity of Jakarta for the cultural sector has met the criteria," he mentioned.
