Incomplete Documents, 6 Foreigners Arrested

Unable to show their passports and stay permits in Indonesia, six foreigners were arrested by West Jakarta Immigration Office Class I officers. The arrest was done when those foreigners were selling accessories at Petak Sembilan Market, Glodok Urban Village, Taman Sari Sub-District, West Jakarta, Wednesday (12/11).

We arrested them when they when offering accessories such as rings and earrings made in China to a buyer from Indonesia

Head of West Jakarta Immigration Office Class I, Bambang Satrio, said that the foreigners consist of four men and two women. Before they were arrested, the immigration intelligence team had followed them for 10 days.

“We arrested them when they when offering accessories such as rings and earrings made in China to a buyer from Indonesia,” he told.

Post-arresting, the buyer canceled the purchase and asked their money as much as Rp 20 million to be returned. Until now, the six foreigners are still being questioned.

“We continue to monitor foreigners wondering in West Jakarta. To those six foreigners, we’re still holding investigation for seven days maximum. Afterwards, we hand them to the Immigration Directorate,” stated Satrio.
