169 Fire Cases Occured in North Jakarta

North Jakarta Fire and Disaster Management Sub-Department recorded that since January to early December 2014, as many as 169 fire cases occurred in North Jakarta. 92 out of them triggered by electricity short-circuit.

Over three years, from 526 fire cases, 334 of them triggered with electricity short-circuit

 

It is followed by 27 cases due to stove explosion, 17 cases due to cigarette and 24 cases due to other triggers. Fire also killed 6 people, namely one fireman at Wiyoto Wiyono Toll, Penjaringan on Saturday (6/28), one citizen in a stall, Jalan Indokarya, Papanggo on Friday (7/25), two citizen at the Kawasan Berikat Nusantara (KBN), Cilincing on Thursday (9/25), one boy in a fire at Sukapura on Saturday (11/8) and one grandfather died on Monday (11/10). The material loss reached Rp 78,906,500 million.

Short Circuit Triggered 63 Percent of Fire Cases in West Jakarta

 

Head of North Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department, Muchtar Zakaria admitted since last three years, the cause of fire in North Jakarta is dominated with electricity short-circuit. "Over three years, from 526 fire cases, 334 of them triggered with electricity short-circuit," he expressed, Thursday (12/11).

 

Responding on this matter, Acting North Jakarta Mayor, Tri Kurniadi asked the State owned electricity company PT PLN to crack down on illegal electrical installation. He suspected, many citizens who use the power cord does not match the voltage and trigger electricity short-circuit that led to the fire.

 

"A lot of theft and misuse of electricity occurred in dense residential," he finished.
