Firefighters Put Out Flames in Gembrong Market Area This Morning

The East Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-agency firefighters succeeded in overcoming the flames that hit the Gembrong Market area, Jl. Basuki Rahmat RW 01, Cipinang Besar Utara Urban Village, Jatinegara, Monday (4/25) early morning.

Allegedly, it was triggered by an electrical sh ort-circuit in one of the residents' houses

East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-agency's Fire Control and Rescue Section Head Gatot Sulaeman mentioned that his side had deployed 26 firetrucks and 130 personnel to extinguish the flames which occurred on Sunday (4/24) at 21:06.

"Until 4 AM, we are still cooling the fire site," he added, Monday (4/25) morning.

In this incident, the fire destroyed around 400 permanent and semi-permanent buildings on an area of 1,200 square meters in form of houses and shops in RT 02, 03, 04, 05, and 06 of RW 01, Cipinang Besar Utara (CBU) Urban Village.

"Allegedly, it was triggered by an electrical short-circuit in one of the residents' houses," he conveyed.

No casualties or victims were injured in the incident. The material loss caused by the fire was estimated at more than Rp 1.5 billion.
