"It is conducted to provide a sense of security and comfort for passengers and bus crews. If we find a fleet that is not roadworthy, we will inform terminal management to follow it up," he stated, Wednesday (4/27).

According to him, the unroadworthy fleets were not recommended to operate temporarily. However, the unroadworthy fleet with a less fatal violation could continue to operate if the driver would address the shortcomings immediately.

Ujung Menteng UP PKB's Advanced Examiner Team Commander Sumantri Jayadi added there were many components checked, such as vehicle lighting system, tires, wipers, seat belts, braking, and tools on vehicles such as glass breaker, light fire extinguisher, emergency chair, and others.

"As a result, there are many unroadworthy fleets. But, in general, the shortcomings are understandable. Because it is not fatal and it can be overcome," he mentioned.

He informed that only 2 out of 16 fleets were declared roadworthy on Tuesday (4/26).

Meanwhile, the other 14 fleets were given notes about their shortcomings, such as no glass-breaking hammers, expired light fire extinguishers, opaque mica glass for headlights, retreated tires, and others.

"Those fleets that haven't passed the roadworthy test are still allowed to operate. But, they must address the shortcomings after transporting passengers. If not, they will get sanction," he asserted.
