Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, reminds of disaster fund management accountability in every region. The man who is familiarly called Ahok said, in order to avoid corruption, disaster funds should be delivered to the right target and managed properly.

"The use of disaster funds should be done in a transparent management so it’s not trigger the corruption occurrence," told Ahok, while attending a preparatory meeting in anticipation of floods along the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Head, Public Works and Housing Minister, and the Regional Head around the Capital, in the Public Works and Housing Ministry office, in Kebayoran Baru, Monday (15/12).

Ahok added, this meeting was held to strengthen the coordination between the central government with surrounding mayors and regents around the capital. Moreover, floods disaster that hit Jakarta should be solved from the area around the capital.

"Such as normalization or dredging the river, we want to send the equipments but have to know where the point is worked by Public Works Minister, and which are not. Mobile pumps are also prepared to have standby before the flood come, not when there is a new disaster," he added.

Not only that, Basuki continued, the city government will also provide financial assistance to the region around the capital in order to free Jakarta from flood. "If Cipondoh is flooded, it will also hit Daan Mogot. So we have to give fund assistance to help prevent the flood. We are also going to buy land that could be used in prevent the flood," Ahok explained.

The fund assistance mechanism is already prepared. It is different with the grant mechanism.

As planned before, the fund assistance will be disbursed next year as much as Rp 100 billion. "We also prepare Rp 1.5 trillion as the flyover Transjakarta lane project. It is because mostly the bus passengers came from Tangerang and Bekasi," Ahok continued.

National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Head, Syamsul Maarif said, the governor also emphasized the accountability of the disaster budget management in each region.

"That was advice from the governor to strengthen the SOP flooding especially in budget accountability to the BPK, BPKP, and Attorney. We will strengthen it, although there is regulations of BNPB Head No. 6A to be more transparent and accountable," said Syamsul Maarif.
