To secure the celebration of Christmas and New Year's Eve, Jakarta Police will hold 2014 Lilin Jaya operation. The operation that is started on Tuesday (12/23) to Friday (1/2) involves 4,000 personnel.

"We have prepared 4,000 joint personnel in Lilin Jaya operation to monitor the community activities in Christmas and New Year," said Police Inspector General Unggung Cahyono, Metro Jaya police Head on Monday (12/15).

Unggung explained, apart from the City Police, his side is also assisted from Police Headquarters and the Kodam Jaya. The Security is held for 10 days and spreads at 1,960 points including the worship house, public places, and other locations.

"At New Year's Eve we will concentrate on keeping the six crowds points. Starting from the Bundaran Hotel Indonesia, Monas, Ancol, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Kota Tua area and the Thousand Islands. We also still waiting the report from entertainment place that want to hold New Year's Eve event," explained Cahyono.

Unggung uttered, his side will set 102 posts scattered at all City Police jurisdiction to support Lilin Jaya 2014 operation. Not only that, especially for Christmas, all the staffs will sterilize the area in the main churches and several churches are located in prones areas.

"We will provide sterilization a few hours before the worship start. A total of 102 posts, 61 are in Jakarta and 41 outside of Jakarta, including in the terminal and the airport," said Cahyono.

Meanwhile, Public Relations Head of Jakarta Police, Police Commissioner Rikwanto revealed, before the operation is implemented, his side will hold Cipta Kondisi operation first.

According to Rikwanto, the implementation of Cipta Kondisi operation is focused to crack down on street crime. "Yesterday we have held Zebra operation which focused on the road offender. Now we do the operation to increase security of social order disruption," he said.

In this operation, the Jakarta Police will deploy the non-uniform police officers at several critical points of crime, such as Cocacola intersection, Jalan Gatot Subroto and Cawang UKI intersection.

Rikwanto added, officers are allowed to take decisive action if the perpetrator endanger the society or officer.
