After being delayed for four days, the demolition of 140 illegal buildings along Jalan Karanganyar, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta, is finally carried out today, Thursday (11/12). The buildings demolished consist of 125 motorcycle parts stores and 15 stalls selling food and drinks.

According to Head of Sawah Besar Sub-District, Henri Perez Sitorus, those buildings are demolished because the area will be turned into a green open space and sidewalk to be built as well. As for the traders, all of them will be relocated to Sawah Besar Market and Karanganyar Market.

Raid Against Street Vendors in Monas TightenedJoint personnel are deployed in this demolition which had made the traffic around the area congested. They consist of 80 Satpol PP personnel, 10 TNI personnel, and 20 police officers.
