Central Jakarta Pusip Holds Literacy Tour in Schools

Commemorating National Book Day, the Central Jakarta Library and Archive (Pusip) Sub-agency holds a literacy tour at Kaffah Integrated Islamic School (SDIT) and MIS Istiqlal Jakarta both offline and online from 08:30 to 13:00 on Tuesday (5/17).

This is the first time it has been carried out offline during the pandemic

Central Jakarta Pusip Sub-agency Head Irwan Septinadi mentioned that the activity featured Ani Ummu Hani, a storyteller from Ventriloquist Indonesia; Yeni Budi Rahman, a teacher, and children's book writer; and Ika Tantri Apsitasari, a children book illustrator.

"The literacy tour is carried out by visiting schools according to the schedule. Today, the tour is held in two schools, namely Kaffah Islamic School (SDIT) and MIS Istiqlal Jakarta," he explained.

Apart from introducing libraries in Central Jakarta, this tour was expected to increase students' knowledge and grow their interest in reading in a fun way.

"This is the first time it has been carried out offline during the pandemic," he added.

With the support of many parties, he hoped this educational activity could run optimally.

"Through collaborative work, hopefully, it can optimize literacy development in the community," he stated.
