The Jakarta Library and Archives Agency (Dispusip) is committed to improving the habit of reading in the community through Baca Jakarta (reading) activities.

Dispuisp Head Wahyu Haryadi said it was carried out to support Jakarta as a city of literature, and to appreciate the high enthusiasm of the community to participate in realizing a culture of reading fondness.
"As of the first quarter of 2022, the number of Baca Jakarta participants has reached 71,719 participants or increased by 144.5 percent from 2021, which is 29,332 participants from and outside Jakarta," he expressed, in Pulo Gadung, East Jakarta as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Monday (4/1).

Eventually, the challenges of reading could be in the form of summarizing or writing down characters from stories that have been read, mentioning favorite books or authors, or publishing activities that have been carried out through each participant's social media.
"Reading sources can be obtained through digital libraries such as iJakarta, iPusnas, Let's Read, and other digital reading sources. There are also regional public libraries, community reading parks, reading corners, as well as a collection of printed and digital books owned by each participant," he added.
Those who were able to complete the 30-day reading challenge received an e-certificate of success signed by Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan. Of all the participants, the best 400 participants were selected and they would get appreciation prizes.
Even, selected participants would also be invited to attend the Baca Jakarta celebration with well-known book authors as resource persons. For people who want to take part in the Baca Jakarta challenge, they can register via the website www.bacajakarta.jakarta.go.id.
