Commission D Encourages RDF to Overcome Waste Problem

The Jakarta DPRD's Commission D together with executives in the fields of Development and Environment held a joint meeting to discuss the 2023 City Working Plan (RKPD).

On that occasion, Commission D Chairwoman Ida Mahmudah was encouraging Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) as a solution to overcome the waste problem in Jakarta. As is known, RDF is a waste management technique by converting waste into something useful, namely fuel.

"We encourage other RDFs as a solution to overcome the waste problem in Jakarta," she expressed, at the City Council building, Tuesday (5/17).

She admitted there are advantages and disadvantages in the construction of the RDF which can only handle 2,000 tons of waste every day with a composition of 1,000 tons of old waste and 1,000 tons of new waste. Ideally, there would be four more RDFs owned by the Jakarta administration to o vercome the waste problem.

"RDF financing is cheaper and doesn't need to pay a tipping fee," she stated.
