Governor Leads the Release of the First Rice Export to Riyadh

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan led the release of export containers that transported 19 tons of FS Yasamin rice products to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It was related to the cooperation in Export Commodity Trading between PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya and PT AL Raqeeb Universal Group at PT Food Station Warehouse, Cipinang Central Rice Market Complex, East Jakarta, on Friday (5/20).

This is a historic event because for the first time we are exporting rice to Saudi Arabia

This moment was expected to boost domestic welfare in the future.

"This is a historic event because for the first time we are exporting rice to Saudi Arabia. The demand for high quality requires hard work and long preparation. God willing, there will be more export requests," Anies conveyed as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release, Friday (5/20).

Commission B Supports Food Station to Expand the Market

"Indonesia is one of the countries with very abundant food production. We must manage it well thus it can become a blessing and increase domestic welfare by utilizing international markets," he added.

The Jakarta Government was proud to send the first export of FS Yasamin rice to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Besides fulfilling the needs of rice in Jakarta and its surrounding area, the company could also export long grain rice with IR-64 Ciherang variety to meet Saudi Arabia's demand. The rice was cultivated in Indramayu, West Java, and harvested in early 2022.

"One 20-feets container of FS Yasamin rice that will be exported to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia today is a sign that FS Yasamin product can be accepted and absorbed in the international market, especially Saudi Arabia," he mentioned.

Despite Jakarta does not have enough land to harvest rice, this city is capable of supplying rice to its residents and foreign countries. Even PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya, Jakarta's BUMD, is the largest rice trading center in Southeast Asia.

Because Jakarta was supplied by buffer zones in meeting the rice needs of its citizens, especially in regions with surplus rice production. In this cooperation, Jakarta not only received rice of good quality but also thought about farmers' welfare.

"The release was momentum for PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya to expand its business in the international food market, especially Saudi Arabia and the Middle East," he stated.

The releasing event was also attended by Indonesian Ambassador to Riyadh Saudi Arabia Abdul Azis Ahmad (zoom); Al Raqeeb Universal Group Commissioner M. Ali (zoom); Al Raqeeb Universal Group Director Jihan Husin Ahmad Ba'abud (zoom); Food Station President Director, Pamrihadi Wiraryo; Bank Indonesia DKI Jakarta Representative Office Head Onny Widjanarko; East Jakarta Mayor M.
