City Plans to Provide Cheap Parking for Bikers

Jakarta Provincial Government plans to provide cheap parking for bikers in order to smooth the policy implementation of motorcycle ban on Jalan HI Roundabout-Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan.

We’re thinking on how to provide parking lots where bikers only have to pay (parking tariff) one hour for a whole day

“We’re thinking on how to provide parking lots where bikers only have to pay (parking tariff) one hour for a whole day,” stated Jakarta Governor Basuki ‘Ahok’ T Purnama, Thursday (12/18).

According to Ahok, later the bikers would have to pay to onboard bus using e-money. They only need to tap the e-money card which can be connected to the parking lot.

“So, those who have TransJakarta bus e-card can pay the parking fee in low tariff. It is being discussed, because TransJakarta begins to operate in January 2015,” he said.

At this time, city administration is collecting the complaints and criticisms from the public to get the best solution related to the motorcycle ban policy.

“Principally, for instance, the parking fee is Rp 2,000 per hour but you only need to pay for an hour (for a whole day) as long as you have TransJakarta e-card. This is because the double-decker buses are operated by TransJakarta as well,” he explained.
