Jakarta Strengthens Child-Friendly Task Forces in Each Region

The Jakarta Empowerment, Child Protection, and Population Control (PPAPP) Agency continue to strengthen Child-friendly City Task Force (KLA) in each municipality and regency in Jakarta.

Hopefully, KLA 2022 evaluation can help us to fulfill the rights and protection of children in Jakarta

Strengthening KLA was needed thus Jakarta could achieve KLA predicate from the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection (KPPA RI).

Municipality and regency in Jakarta are currently preparing for the stages of field verification, both hybrid and directly to the location.

Synergy in SKPDs is Expected to Facilitate Access to Child-Friendly Services

Based on administrative verification from KPPA RI from April 12 to 27, 2022, there were several municipalities/regions in Jakarta that received a higher KLA assessment score compared to the previous year.

In detail, East Jakarta scored 804, North Jakarta 791, Thousand Islands 732, West Jakarta 720, Central Jakarta 659, and South Jakarta 643.

Jakarta PPAPP Agency Head Tuty Kusumawati said that based on KLA 2022 evaluation schedule, field verification stages would be carried out from May 9 to June 17. In this stage, her side targeted municipalities/regions in Jakarta to achieve the main qualifications.

She mentioned that field verification was carried out directly for regions that were included in the main nomination, while for regions that were not included in the main nomination, it was carried out in a hybrid manner.

"Referring to the results of this year's administrative verification, East and North Jakarta have the opportunity to rank up to the main nomination," she stated, Tuesday (5/24).

According to her, East Jakarta KLA Task Force Head is currently preparing infrastructure and child-friendly facilities for field verification in the region.

For example, child-friendly health centers, child-friendly schools, child-friendly places of worship, children's creativity centers, children's information centers, social house and daycare centers, child-friendly zones, and child-friendly innovation locations.

In North Jakarta, KLA Task Force is collecting data and additional documents, as well as preparing sites for hybrid and field preparation.

"Other municipalities/regions are also preparing for hybrid field verification," she added.

She assessed that cities and regencies in Jakarta have the opportunity to level up their KLA category. Moreover, KLA task forces had been formed in each region, consisting of the city secretariat, UKPD, TP PKK, related stakeholders, and community elements such as RT/RW administrators, communities, and children's forums.

Strengthening KLA Task Force's commitment as a working group was also considered very necessary thus Jakarta could meet the KLA criteria with perfect scores.

"This year, we are improving our cooperation with ministries, police, and other law enforcement agencies. Hopefully, it is our opportunity to increase the score," she conveyed.

She informed that KLA development was intended to build local government initiatives to transform the convention on children's rights from a legal framework into policies, programs, and development activities.

The effort was aimed at fulfilling the rights and protection of children in municipalities/regions to create a children-friendly environment.

KLA evaluation was carried out based on 24 indicators summarized in the institution with three indicators and five KLA clusters.

These were the Civil Rights and Freedoms Cluster (three indicators), Family Environment and Alternative Care Cluster (five indicators), Basic Health and Welfare Cluster (six indicators), Education Cluster, Utilization of Leisure and Cultural Activities (three clusters), Special Protection Cluster Children (four indicators).

"Hopefully, KLA 2022 evaluation can help us to fulfill the rights and protection of children in Jakarta," she closed.
