Pasar Jaya Decision Objects Block VI Pasar Senen Traders

Dozens merchants at Blok VI of Pasar Senen held demonstration at PD Pasar Jaya office on Jalan Pramuka, Matraman, East Jakarta, Monday (12/22). They refused the market management's plan about displacing the merchants.

The demonstration attracted hundred of visitors who do shopping at Pramuka Market. Besides that, the action also made the traffic congestion worse at the area.

Gatot (43), one of Blok VI Pasar Senen traders, admitted disappointed with PD Pasar Jaya management in taking decision. According to him, Djangga Lubis as the PD Pasar Jaya leader is not transparent and always harm the traders who have small budget.

"We have to pay Rp 22.5 million per meter for a newly-built four meter booth. No money means we have to go out," Gatot said.

Since 2006, Gatot added, there was no booth letter agreement. The management just mentioned the price.

"Block VI traders are mostly selling vegetables. We absolutely objected the decision," he added.

Public Relation Head of PD Pasar Jaya, Agus Lamun stated, his side will investigate the Block VI to understand the problem.

"We will follow up the problem immediately. The investigation team will run their task. But this is just at internal area, yet involve the police side," Lamun stated.
