15 More CCTVs Installed to Monitor Water Level in Sluices

Following the installation of previous 19 close circuit televisions (CCTV) in sluices and upstream areas, Jakarta Public Works Department this year added 15 more CCTVs. This way is expected would accelerate flood anticipation efforts and ease coordination between related units.

“We add 15 more CCTVs this year. Thus, the water level can always be monitored. So when the water increases, we can instantly coordinate with urban village and sub-district heads to evacuate the residents on the riverbanks,” uttered Head of Information Technology Management Unit for Jakarta Public Works Department, Sarju, Thursday (12/25).

According to him, the budget spent for the installation of each CCTV reached Rp 20 billion. That amount of money includes CCTV purchase, server installation, pole installation, and other devices.

The 15 new CCTVs are installed in Depok Sluice, Pesanggrahan Sluice, Angke Hulu Sluice, Krukut Hulu Sluice, Cipinang Hulu Sluice, Sunter Hulu Sluice, Pulogadung Sluice, Pasar Ikan Sluice, Marina Sluice, Ancol Pump, Waduk Muara Angke Hilir Pump, Sedyatmo Toll Pump, Sunter Timur 1 Pump, Sunter Timur 3 Pump, and Kelapa Gading Pump.

As for the locations of previous 19 CCTVs that have been installed are Pluit Reservoir, Setiabudi Barat Reservoir, Melati Reservoir, Ancol Sluice, Istiqlal Sluice, Katulampa Sluice, Manggarai Sluice, Karet Sluice, East Flood Canal (KBT), Viaduct Pump, Cideng Pump, Jembatan Merah Pump, Teluk Gong Pump, Kapuk Poglar Pump, Underpass Angkasa Pump, Senen Underpass, Dukuh Atas Underpass, on Jalan Sabang, and at City Police.

“Indeed, the existing amount of CCTVs installed is still not enough. So, it will be added continuously but gradually,” stated Sarju.
