Ciliwung River Overflows, Bukit Duri Inundated

Settlement on Jalan Kampung Melayu Kecil, RT 11/10, Bukit Duri Urban Village, Tebet Sub-District, South Jakarta, submerged since this morning for as high as 10-150 centimeters after Ciliwung River overflows.

No refugees thus far. But if the water level in Depok Sluice reached alert-2, we’ll prepare the evacuation (for the residents)

Head of Tebet Sub-District, Mahludin, said the flood submerged five RTs at RW 10 Bukit Duri. Although the water level has reached 150 centimeters high, no residents are evacuating yet.

“No refugees thus far. But if the water level in Depok Sluice reached alert-2, we’ll prepare the evacuation (for the residents),” he stated, Monday (12/22).

Meanwhile, this condition is utilized by dozens of children who are currently in school holiday. They seemed happy swimming in the water that is not too deep.

“Not bad, can get free swimming during holiday. We’re not afraid (swimming here) because this is shallow, although the current is quite strong,” expressed Angga (10), an elementary school (SD) student.
