4 Million Tourists Visit East Jakarta This Year

Various activities of local and international tourism which held by East Jakarta Tourism Sub-Department turned out to have a positive impact. The tourists’ number who visiting the region rise to 4.5 percent.

"There is an increasing number of tourist to 4.5 percent compared to last year," said Deddy Soetardi, East Jakarta Tourism Sub-Department Head, Sunday (12/28).

Soetardi added, there were 4 million people who visited East Jakarta this year, while the the last year reached 3.8 million tourists. It is expected the number of tourist will be higher next year.

A number of featured tourist locations in East Jakarta are Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), Pancasila Sakti Monument, Prince Jayakarta Tomb and Assalafiyah Mosque, Batu Aji and Gems market, Scouts and Travel Campgrounds and Graha Tour Cibubur (Buperta) and various shopping centers spread over 10 sub-districts in East Jakarta.

According to Soetardi, there are two aspects that indicates the increase in number of tourist. First, the opening of Halim Perdana Kusuma airport into an international airport and development of shopping centers. So the East Jakarta region becomes one of the favorite shopping locations.

"In addition to tourism, we have a variety of other tourist facilities, such as the five-star hotel and several supporting entertainment venues," disclosed Soetardi.
