DPRD Deputy Chairperson: Jakarta is More Colorful on its 495th Anniversary

Jakarta Council (DPRD) Deputy Chairperson Rani Mauliani assessed that Jakarta's development on the 495th anniversary showed better progress. She hopes in the future, the progress and development in Jakarta can be maintained, even though it is no longer the state capital.

We are not exaggerating, but we really feel the changes. I think Jakarta is now more colorful

"We are not exaggerating but we feel the changes. I think Jakarta is now more colorful," she expressed, Wednesday (6/29).

She conveyed that the peak of Jakarta's progress can be judged by the completion of the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) construction in Papanggo, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta. The construction of the stadium had been planned in the 1990s in the era of Governor Wiyogo Atmodarminto.

Then, in early June 2022, Jakarta was able to organize a Formula E event in Ancol, Pademangan, North Jakarta. Not only being successful as an international event organizer but the activity also showed Jakarta's readiness to accept eco-friendly technology for sustainable development.

Daily, Jakarta's development can be seen from the infrastructure of various modes of public transportation which is getting better. According to her, the ease and comfort of public transportation in Jakarta could not be matched by other cities in Indonesia.

In the economic sector, economic equity through the empowerment of human resources through the Jakpreneur program had shown good results. Various programs and facilities launched by the Jakarta Government have been able to maintain stability during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Related to flooding issues, especially flash flooding, the handling still needed a long time because it involves the central and regional governments in the upstream areas of Jakarta.

"I used to feel that Jakarta was the toughest. So, if we can survive in Jakarta, we are capable of surviving in any city. Even though it is not perfect, Jakarta is now better and more colorful," she mentioned.
