Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, officially inaugurated the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) tonight, Sunday (7/24).

In his speech, he said that tonight was the end of what was promised, namely Persija had a stadium as their home base. A dream that came come true through a long process and thorough work.
"Alhamdulillah, tonight we are here to complete the phase of the struggle. In this place, it has long been proclaimed, promised, and today that promise is paid for in cash," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

Dreams that some respond to pessimistically, we're sorry to say this will disappoint those who are pessimistic," he furthered.
He then dedicated the stadium to the Jakmania, Jakartans, and Indonesians. Hence, he appreciated the support from the Jakmania, Jakpro, administration, and Central Government in realizing JIS as an international class stadium.
"This masterpiece was built 100 percent by the sweat of the nation's children. It started with the main capital, namely the extraordinary support from Jakmania. From the moment the promise was made, they were willing to believe in that promise, guard it, and today they are here," he furthered.
“This is a colossal work of thousands of people completing masterpieces. Therefore, allow me to express my gratitude to the workers who made this stadium stand. To the Jakpro who guarded the administration and the support from the Central Government, as well as Mr. President," he added.
He again left a message to the Persija supporters and all the residents who were present to jointly protect the stadium as well as possible. He hoped that it could accommodate the pride of Jakarta's soccer team, Persija to give its world-class performance, which is also always supported by its fans.
“Finally, today I hand over it to the Jakmania, to the people of Jakarta, and to the Indonesian people. Take good care of this place, this is our home and unites us all," he added.
“Let this be the last months of completing my assignment in Jakarta. After that I will come and sit as Jakmania with all. Take care of our stadium and show everyone that this is not just a masterpiece building but the fans are an example for all," he closed.
