48,904 Children in Jakarta Have Received Rubella Measles

The Jakarta Health Agency (Dinkes) has noted that as many as 48,904 children aged 9 to 59 months in Jakarta have been given the rubella measles vaccine during the National Child Immunization Month (BIAN) from August 1 to 8, 2022.

The figure has only reached 6.83 percent of the targets set at 715,786 children.

Epidemiological and Immunization Surveillance Division Head Ngabila Salama said around 7,000 children received the rubella measles vaccine per day.

Succeeding BIAN, Parents Prompted to Complete Childhood Immunization Status

They received the vaccines from hospitals, posyandu (integrated health posts), vaccination posts, and other healthcare facilities. Residents who want to get the service can come to the location without having to register.

"This month, we open the service for 24 hours every day in 44 sub-district health centers in Jakarta. We are also open to foreign nationals and those who don't have population data (NIK) or already," she explained, Tuesday (8/9).

She explained that registration for child immunization can also be done via the JAKI app. It is open in some areas, namely Jakarta City Hall, Taman Lapangan Banteng, Jakarta Islamic Center Koja, Daan Mogot Kalideres Mall, Ciputra Grogol Petamburan Mall, Asoka Jati Padang RPTRA, Kelinci Apus Bambu Park. and East Jakarta Mayor's Office.

"We also invite parents who have injected additional measles rubella for their children to document it in the form of a certificate on the page or link https://linktr.ee/sertifikatbian2022," she continued.

She added that BIAN is an effort to prevent the occurrence of Extraordinary Diseases Preventable by Immunization (KLB PD3I) and due to a decrease in routine immunization coverage for children during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In succeeding the immunization program, Jakarta has targeted children aged 9 to 59 months with additional measles and rubella immunization regardless of immunization status.

Aside that, it was pursued for those who had not yet had four oral polio immunizations, polio injection (one time), and DPT-Hb-Hib (pentabio).injection (three times).

"This is useful for preventing pain and disability due to measles, rubella, polio, diphtheria, pertussis (whooping stone), hepatitis B, pneumonia (inflammation of the lungs), and meningitis (inflammation of the lining of the brain)," he stated.
