Hundreds of Illegal Stalls in Bali Mester Controlled

At least 300 illegal stalls around Jembatan Item, Pasar Ikan and Jenderal Urip Sumaharjo, located at Bali Mester Urban Village, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, are controlled by Satpol PP officers on Wednesday (1/14).

We do the raid to create public order. We've repeatedly warned the vendors but it was ignored

When officers arrived, street vendors were immediately running away while saving their merchandises. Officers then only secured the stalls. The raid involving 55 Satpol PP officers from Jatinegara Sub-District and Bali Mester Urban Village was initially held along Jalan Raya Matraman, precisely in Lapangan Jenderal Urip Sumaharjo. They managed to secure tens of tarpaulins and tables belonging vendors.

They then did another raid around Pasar Ikan where its location reaches 300 meters from Lapangan Jenderal Urip Sumoharjo. They successfully seized  hundreds of tents and stalls and then transported using trucks.

Similar thing is also done on Jalan Jatinegara Timur, precisely in Jembatan Item, and hundreds of stalls controlled. Majority of vendors sell used goods, like shoes, electronic items, home furnishings, and electrical equipment.

"We do the raid to create public order. We've repeatedly warned the vendors but it was ignored," told Head of Bali Mester Urban Village, Agustinah.

Agustinah uttered, post-raid, those sites will be installed with 120 flower pots thus illegal street vendors can be prevented.
