Legislator Ini Apresiasi Penyediaan SPAM SWRO di Pulau Seribu

Commission B Appreciates IPA SWRO Provision in Seribu Islands

Jakarta-owned tap water company PAM Jaya which has built a Water Treatment Plant (IPA) with Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) technology, received appreciation from Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) Commission B members Hasan Basri Umar and Gilbert Simanjuntak.

With SWRO, Seribu Islands residents can meet their needs for clean water for drinking

According to Umar, it was in response to the government's efforts to deal with the water crisis that residents have been experiencing so far, even though only nine of the 11 islands are inhabited.

"With SWRO, Seribu Islands residents can meet their needs for clean water for drinking," he said.

He hoped that the same action could be realized again in order to meet the needs of clean water for residents.

A similar statement also came out from another legislator Simanjuntak. According to him, this technology, which converts seawater into fresh water, could improve the health and livelihoods of the people in Seribu Islands.

"I appreciate it, as PAM Jaya is currently heading towards achieving the target of 100 percent water service coverage," he stressed.

He explained that they were trying to deal with land subsidence due to groundwater extraction. So, the SWRO in Seribu Islands could be very useful but the pipeline renovation was needed for better results.

As for the information, until now, PAM Jaya has built IPA SWROs on Untung Jawa, Pramuka, Panggang, Kelapa Dua, Payung, Tidung, Lancang, Kelapa-Harapan, and Sebira islands which will be handed over to PAM Jaya at the end of August.
