300 East Jakarta Officials Underwent Urine Test

As many as 300 echelon-IV officials under East Jakarta Administration underwent the urine test on Monday (1/19). The urine test is held to realize the commitment of government apparatus in preventing, eradicating, abusing the drug trafficking.

The urine test held by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) is a continuation of the test during the inauguration of echelon-II and -III officials in Silang Monas, Jakarta a while ago.

Officials who took the test are section and sub-section heads working in sub-department, division, and city secretariat office.

City Took Over Drug Warehouses in Pesanggrahan

Deputy Mayor of East Jakarta, Hussein Murad stated the test is a prevention effort to anticipate drugs abuse among government officials.

"Nationally, the nation has declared a war against drugs. Surely, we're also supporting it by cleaning our officials from drugs. That is why, we hold the urine test for echelon-IV officials in East Jakarta," he stressed.

As planned, the test results would be sent to Jakarta Provincial Government. If there is found urine containing psychotropic substances, the Jakarta Employment Agency (BKD) will investigate it.

Community Empowerment Deputy for BNN, Brig. Gen. Siswandi appreciates the East Jakarta Administration's effort in combating drugs circulation.

"We give a high appreciation to East Jakarta Administration employees and elements who have tried to combat drugs. Surely, it also becomes an example and give understanding to the public to stay away from drugs," expressed Brig. Gen. Siswandi.

He added, in 2015, as many as 100 thousand drug abusers will be rehabilitated. It is compliance with the theme of the joint declaration "Save Indonesia from Drugs through Rehabilitation for 100,000 Drug Abusers 2015.
