Chicken Market Center Development Starts this Year

Jakarta Vice Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidajat has a special attention to a number of chicken coops and slaughterhouses that spread around Jakarta. Related to this condition, Djarot plans to provide a chicken market center with capability of 1 million chickens per day.

This year, we'll provide the chicken market center

According to him, East Jakarta is the best location to realize the plan. Furthermore, there are central markets (Pasar Induk) or thematic markets in East Jakarta.

"This year, we'll provide the chicken market center. East Jakarta Mayor will get the location," he said during his visit to the chicken coops in Pisangan Baru, Matraman, East Jakarta, Tuesday (1/20).

He hoped the chicken market center will ease the supervision as well as no slaughterhouse existence in residential.

"The model is similar with wholesale. Distribution to retail or grocery seller can be done directly," he added.

Jakarta Head of Livestock for Dept. of Marine and Agriculture, Agung Priambodo, stated his side will directly realize the vice governor's plan.

"We need very large space to accomodate 1 million chicken. We also need to discuss the location with him (vice governor)," he stated.
