Fire in Rented Home Kills Mother & Her Daughter

A mother, Royani (60) and her son, Yanti (20), was found dead in a prostrate condition after their home on Jalan Kebon Baru RT 06/10, Semper Barat Urban Village, Cilincing, North Jakarta, burned down on Saturday (1/24 ) morning.
Fire put out at around 1.30 AM. There are two casualties and four had minor burns
Based on the information gathered, the fire that hit a rented home owned by Mujakir that also used as a gasoline stall broke out around 12.05 AM.
Around 11.30 PM, there was a power outage. A tenant, Syahroni (42) immediately lit a candle as lighting. Allegedly, the candle fell and hit dozens of gasoline bottles on the first floor.

While on the first floor, Syahroni and his wife, Wati (28), as well as two children, Rani (4) and Akbar (1.5), managed to get out of the home despite suffering minor burns.
Head of Operational Division, North Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department, Abdul Wahid said as many a 11 fire trucks immediately deployed to the scene. Due to flammable materials inside, firemen could put out the flames more than an hour.
"Fire put out at around 1.30 AM. There are two casualties and four had minor burns. We suspect the cause is from candle and its loss reaches Rp 300 million," he told.
Chief of Cilincing Metro Sector Police, Sr. Comr. Edi Purnawan explains two people died when they were sleeping. Thus they cannot escape.
"We're still investigating the case. From initial information, it's triggered by a candle," he finished.
