Saving Electricity, City to Build Mini Power Plants

The city administration is going to build mini power plants with gas fuel in order to conserve energy use and reduce dependence on the State-owned electricity company PT PLN (PLN).

We will be heading to the reliability of electricity in Jakarta. By so, we realize the mini power plants. This is the hope of Mr. Governor

The mini power plant that is like the engine generator will be used in the buildings of City Council (DPRD) and City Hall as a pilot project or test site.

"We will be heading to the reliability of electricity in Jakarta. By so, we realize the mini power plants. This is the hope of Mr. Governor," said Head of Jakarta Industry and Energy Department, Haris Pindratno, Sunday (1/25).

As the initial phase, he plans to test out the devices at the DPRD and City Hall buildings, as well as street light along Jalan Kebon Sirih, Menteng, Central Jakarta.

"At 4 AM-6 PM, the mini power is used for electricity power in the DPRD and City Hall buildings, as well as for street lights at 6 PM- 6 AM," he told.

Pindratno revealed replacement source of electrical energy to gas in both buildings would be done without changing the existing electricity network. The old electricity network installed in the buildings is only adjusted to the system switch.

"Just use switch system thus we do not need to change the network," he exclaimed.

He added, its use can be realized after the 2015 City Budget (APBD) disbursed. "We can also take the fund from the corporate social responsibility (CSR)," he uttered.
