750 Firefighters Alerted to Monitor Inundation-Prone Areas in East Jakarta

Some areas have also submitted applications for post-inundation handling

As many as 750 firefighters from East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency (Gulkarmat) have been deployed to handle inundation impacted by the overflowing of the Ciliwung River, Monday (10/10).

Gulkarmat Management Division Head, Gatot Sulaeman said personnel were alerted at some inundation-prone areas, especially in areas along the Ciliwung River.

"Some areas have also submitted applications for post-inundation handling," he expressed.

According to him, there are currently three locations for post-inundation mitigation, namely Jalan Tanjung Lengkong, RT 16/17, Bidara Cina Urban Village, which was affected by the overflowing of the Ciliwung River as high as about 40 centimeters.

Then, Jalan Tanah Rendah, RW 04, 05, and 07 Kampung Melayu with a water level of 50 centimeters, and Jalan TB Simatupang, Gedong Urban Village with a water level of five centimeters.

"Our men will continue to monitor developments in inundation-prone areas," he explained.

At the location, his party also prepared 11 rubber boats, 10 quick response units, four portable pumps, and one multipurpose unit.
