KIP Monev Appreciation, Heru: Public Information Disclosure is Citizen's Right

To support the openness of the information flow needed by the community, the Jakarta Communication, Informatics and Statistics Agency (Diskominfotik) in collaboration with the Jakarta Information Commission (KI) held the 2022 Public Agency Information Disclosure Award (KI) at Jakarta City Hall.

This activity is also an event for the Monitoring and Evaluation of Public Information Disclosure (Monev KIP) in providing space for the public to take an active role in supervising the implementation of state administration.

Aside that, it also invited the public to be involved in the process of making public policies in accordance with the mandate of Law Number 14/2008 on Openness of Public Information (UU KIP).

Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono welcomed and appreciated KIP's Monev activities. The momentum of this award could be seen as a benchmark for public bodies involved in implementing public information disclosure in Jakarta.

"We fully support the openness of public information in Jakarta as part of residents' constitutional rights that encourage the creation of clean and good governance. We also appreciated the 46 public bodies that won awards in public information disclosure," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Wednesday (12/28 ).

He also invited all regional apparatus organizations (OPD) under the Jakarta Government to continuously present innovations in improving open and transparent public services. It could be done by utilizing digital technology platforms, such as mobile applications that can be accessed easily by the public.

"Thus, the public can find out, for instance, what's wrong in the sub-district and what the lack of information is. This is so people can find out. Then in political parties for instance, what are the issues, and what their plans are like. Thus, the public can see the website portal of each related agency," he explained.

"Hopefully, information disclosure will increase public trust and public participation in the process of making public policies, thus the democratic process, especially in Jakarta, can run well," he continued.

As for the information, Jakarta KI annually ranks Public Bodies through Monev for Jakarta Public Bodies. In 2022, there will be 163 public bodies in Jakarta participating in the KIP Monev.

This year, they also provided written recommendations as a basis for award-winning public bodies to continue to improve and innovate regarding public information disclosure.
