"Renovation with heavy level will be focused on 193 buildings and medium level for 65 buildings," said Head of Facility and Infrastructure Section, Jakarta Education Department, Sarjoko, Saturday (2/7).

Based on the data, Sarjoko stated, there are 212 school buildings that must be renovated due to its damage has already reached 60 percent. "Majority of the damaged school buildings are aged of more than 30 years," he expressed.

Due to lack of budget, he stated, the renovation will use a scale of priority. The condition of each building has a different damage. Policy on total renovation is, if the building is prone to flooding, over aged of 30 years, prone to collapse with the extent of damage up to 60 percent and only having one floor.

He details, there are 1,170 buildings damaged, comprising kindergarten (9 buildings), elementary school (1,232 buildings), junior high school (289 buildings), senior high school (117 buildings), and vocational school (63 buildings).

Separately, Head of Jakarta Education Department, Arie Budhiman said that in 2016, all principals would be the Budget User Authority (KPA). Hence, they are expected to conduct an inventory of the condition of their respective schools and then reported to the Education Department to be remedied.

"Without a support and participation, it will never happen. The real condition in the field should know and immediately repaired thus the city does not inferior to other provinces," added the former Head of Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department.
