There were no casualties, but only two houses collapsed
About two houses are collapsed after landslides hit a nearly 15-meter-high cliff standing on the banks of Ciliwung, Jalan Gintung, RT 06/06, Tanjung Barat, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta. The landslides only damage the back of the houses.
"Landslides happened yesterday afternoon during heavy rain. There were no casualties, but only two houses collapsed," told Zaenal (50), one of houses owners, Wednesday (2/11).
4 Houses Collapsed in LandslideZaenal said he felt a strong ground shaking like as an earthquake on Tuesday (2/10) afternoon. He then panicked and immediately evacuated his wife and two children from the house. Not long after, the back room of the house used as a bathroom and a warehouse collapsed.
"I have not had time to evacuate some furnishings," he said, who daily works as a motorcycle taxi driver.
He had occupied the house over five years. "I have the certificate, but its ownership has not been changed. Initially, the land wide was 90 square meters, but I sold 40 square meters and already occupied by Mr. Timbul whose house was also collapsed due to landslide," he expressed.
Jagakarsa Sub-District Head, Fidyah Rokhim disclosed, besides weather factor, the landslides also caused by human error from the owner of the building below.
"The owner built a house near the cliff. This is surely not a designation," he stressed.
