Commission B: LRT is Profitable Business Opportunity

PT Lintas Raya Terpadu (LRT) Jakarta is planning the construction of a continuation of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Phase 1B train route from Velodrome to Manggarai. Its planning has received support from members of Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) Commission B.

If it is successful, LRT will become a backbone

According to Ismail, Chairman of Jakarta DPRD Commission B, the development of public transportation is one of the future businesses that has prospective prospects that are quite promising besides in the field of information technology.

"This is our big opportunity. If it is successful, LRT will become a backbone, This is important for us," he said, Wednesday (2/1).

He explained that the LRT railway project for Velodrome to Manggarai route will start this year. It is deemed to be the leading sector for executing activities that have been given local revenue (PMD).

"PT Jakpro can give full authority to the Jakarta LRT which already has a base practice like that," he explained.

The same statement also came from another Commission B member, M. Taufik Zoelkifli. He stated if it is related to tourism, the LRT train will be a small tour for residents, thus the dividends of this subsidiary company will reap profits.

"Even though the Velodrome to Kelapa Gading route is still receiving criticism from the public, this project has good potential. Moreover, this route is added to Manggarai. Surely many residents use this train," he uttered.

PT Jakpro President Director, Iwan Takwin said his party is currently waiting for the issuance of a recommendation for a Phase 1B LRT alignment permit from the Directorate General of Railways for the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub).

"We're in constant communication with the Director General of Railways. The process for recommending a trace permit is continuing according to the target," he stated.
