Commission B Supports Additional Budget for Gemarikan Program

The Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD)'s Commission B supports the additional budget for the Gemarikan program, which can roughly be translated into “love to eat fish” belongs to the Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture, and Food Security Agency (KPKP) in the 2023 Draft City Budget (APBD).

Thus, it reaches the poor in Jakarta

Commission B Secretary, Wa Ode Herlina said that the Gemarikan program was urgently needed to increase the improvement of children's protein, especially children from the middle to lower economic class.

"We support the budget and the quota is increased. Thus, it reaches the poor in Jakarta and the results will be maximized," she said, during the discussion of the Draft Bylaw for 2023 APBD at Grand Cempaka, Bogor, West Java, Monday (11/14).

To maximize the program, it is necessary to conduct surveys and data collection on school-age children who are in their infancy.

"Surely, the data collection must be clear. Socialization must also be intensified," she stressed.

Jakarta KPKP Agency Head, Suharini Eliawati explained that in the 2023 Draft APBD, her party proposed an additional budget and quota for the Gemarikan program amounting to Rp 2.25 billion for 5,600 participants. Initially, the proposed budget was only Rp 1.2 billion for 3,500 participants.

She detailed, the budget allocation for the program was Rp 373 million for Central Jakarta, North Jakarta Rp 491 million, West Jakarta Rp 397 million, South Jakarta Rp 410 million, East Jakarta Rp 374 million, and Seribu Islands Rp 206 million.

"Each region will be added by around 1,000 participants, except for Seribu Islands, around 600 participants will be added," she expressed.

For this program to be right on target, she cooperates with the Jakarta Education Agency (Disdik) to collect data on students in schools that are eligible to receive this program.

“We're targeting underprivileged children in schools. That's why we are collaborating with Disdik," she added.

For schools that want to hold the Gemarikan program, they can directly submit an application to the Education Agency or Sub-agency in their respective areas.

"If it has been approved, we will hold the Gemarikan program at the school," she stated.
