Jakarta BPBD: Inundation in 108 neighborhoods Have Receded

We call on residents to be careful and alert to potential inundation

Jakarta Regional Mitigation Agency (BPBD) has reported that as many as 108 inundated neighborhoods in 26 urban villages spread across Jakarta have finally receded from inundation caused by heavy rain lately.

Jakarta BPBD Head, Isnawa Adji said the 108  inundated neighborhoods were spread across nine sub-districts (West Jakarta), ten sub-districts (South Jakarta), and seven sub-districts (East Jakarta).

"Of 108 neighborhoods, 40 are in West Jakarta, 29 are in South Jakarta, and 39 are in East Jakarta," he expressed, Tuesday (2/28).

The same condition was also spotted on five streets in East Jakarta, South Jakarta, and West Jakarta. They were Jalan Cipinang Indah Raya, Pondok Bambu; Jalan Pelita, Lubang Buaya; Jalan Raya Cakung Cilincing, Jalan Sakti VII Petukangan Selatan; and Jalan Perumahan Green Garden, RW 04 Kebon Jeruk.

Nevertheless, his party keeps monitoring the updated condition in each area and coordinating with the Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Agency, Bina Marga Agency, and Fire and Rescue Agency (Gulkarmat) in a bid to carry out desludging when puddles occur and ensure the storm drains and channels function properly.

"Including Social Agency, Health Agency's AGD, and PMI for evacuation," he furthered.

To help residents who were displaced, his party had distributed assistance in the form of four or two mineral waters, 103 meal food packages, 80 pieces of blankets, 40 pieces of mukena (head-to-toe woman’s prayer gowns), 40 pieces of sarongs.

Then 80 pcs of mattresses, 40 packages of family kits, 20 packages of kids' ware, 40 pieces of clothing packages, and 20 pieces of family cleaning kits.

"We call on residents to be careful and alert to potential inundation. In an emergency, immediately call telephone number 112. This service is free and operates 24 hours non-stop," he closed.
