Pemprov DKI Terima Bantuan Banjir Dari Taher Foundation dan Permit

Rp 7 Billion Grant for Tackling Flood

Jakarta Provincial Government received a grant of Rp 7 billion from the Society Association and Indonesian-Chinese Employers (Permit) and Tahir Foundation for flood mitigation in the capital. The grant was symbolically handed over to Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama, at City Hall, Wednesday (2/18).

It's very useful. Don't receive the money directly, but must be transferred to the PLN contractors. Thus we can classify the money for the purchase of cables and substations

Ahok disclosed the grant will be spent to purchase generators considering the floods some time ago triggered by electricity supply from the State-owned electricity company PLN for operational of the pump house went out. Additionally, it planned to be used to repair the pumps, substations, and drains.

"It's very useful. Don't receive the money directly, but must be transferred to the PLN contractors. Thus we can classify the money for the purchase of cables and substations. This is a must, thus there will be no power outage from the PLN," he expressed.

Grant Disbursement for City Council Delayed

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive of Tahir Foundation, Dato Sri Tahir explains financial support is routinely done and this time was given to flood handling in Jakarta. In the first year, the foundation had granted Rp 6 billion, the second year Rp 5 billion, and this year Rp 7 billion. "We do this because we also felt what Jakarta resident feel," he explained.

The grant can be used effectively, especially for flood mitigation. "Indeed, it is not enough for the whole of Jakarta. But I hope we could be pioneers. Governor did not ask, but this is our initiative," he disclosed.
