Heru Urges PKK Jakarta to Get Involved in Reducing Stunting Rates

Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono attended the commemoration of Jakarta Empowerment and Family Welfare Movement (HKG PKK) Unit Day of Motion's 51st anniversary in 2023 held by Jakarta PKK Mobilization Team (TP PKK), at PKK Melati Building Auditorium, South Jakarta, Wednesday (3/15).

Acting Governor asserted that the TP PKK Jakarta must be involved to eradicate stunting, which is being intensively carried out by Jakatta Provincial Government. The stunting case in Jakarta must be minimized up to 14 percent following President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo's directives.

"The challenge is how we together with them can solve stunting. Stunting in Jakarta nowadays has touched 18 percent. This is what we must be solved together," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's release.

He assessed the number of children suffering from stunting should receive special attention. Otherwise, it will be a big homework for the next government. In fact, it has a bad effect on the growth of children.

"For instance, when a child enters elementary school. This means that the principal, teachers, and parents have to work hard to improve the child's health. The same goes for when they are teenagers. So, I instructed mayors together with Jakarta Empowerment, Child Protection and Population Control Agency (PPAPP), TP PKK, and community to work together for fighting stunting," he stressed.

Further, in accordance with the theme of HKG PKK's 51st anniversary 'Moving Together towards a Prosperous and Resilient Family for a Growing Indonesia', hopefully it could provide meaning and challenge, thus PKK plays a more active role and accelerates the realization of family welfare through the implementation of 10 sustainable PKK programs.

"I hope that TP PKK will continue to be passionate about helping the younger generation, thus they can grow and develop better and achieve more," he asserted.

As for the information, the activity above was also attended by Jakarta TP PKK Chairwoman, Mirdiyanti; Jakarta Education Agency Head, Nahdiana; Jakarta Health Agency Head, Widyastuti; Jakarta PPAPP Agency Head, Tuty Kusumawati; and Jakarta Maritime, Fishery, and Food Security Agency Head, Suharini Eliawati.
