Satpol PP Ready for Violations Crackdown Ahead of Ramadan

The Jakarta Satpol PP held a preparedness call to maintain peace and public order during Ramadan 1444 Hijri in the City Hall yard, Tuesday (3/21) late afternoon.

It will be intensified by involving Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency

"The action step that will be taken is to hold patrols to suppress order violations in particular, especially related to social issues such as illegal liquor raids," expressed Jakarta Satpol PP Head, Arifin, Wednesday (3/22).

His personnel would also block the arrival of people with social welfare issues (PPKS) in Jakarta during Ramadan.

"Our target is homeless people, beggars, commercial sex workers, and so on in five regions. Those who are caught will be taken to social institutions for coaching," he stated.

He was also collaborating with related agencies to intensify supervision, monitoring, and enforcement of nightlife venues for the next 33 days starting from the day before Ramadan to the day after Idul Fitri.

"It will be intensified by involving Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency," he explained.

His party would prepare around 1,500 personnel from levels of urban villages, sub-districts, cities, and provinces.

"We also get support from national army (TNI) and police," he added.

Therefore, he urged Jakrtans who want to give alms and infaq of their wealth during Ramadan to channel it to official institutions, either through mosques or other social organizations.

"We also urge tourism industry actors to help maintain the sanctity of the month of Ramadan by complying with operating hour rules that will be set by Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency," he stated.
