Here are Operational Rules for Tourism Businesses in Jakarta During Ramadan and Idul Fitri

The Jakarta Provincial Government issued a circular letter regarding the implementation of tourism businesses during Ramadan and Idul Fitri. Through Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Circular Letter No. e-0009/SE/2023 on Operational of Tourism Business during Ramadan and Idul Fitri 1444 Hijri/2023 M issued on March 21, 2023.

This rule is made for the common good

Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Head, Andhika Permata revealed the circular letter regulates the implementation and operating hours of several types of tourism businesses to honor  the holy month of Ramadan and Idul Fitri.

"Certain types of businesses, such as Night Clubs, Discotheques, Steam Baths, Massage Houses, Manual Dexterity Game Arena, Mechanics and/or electronics for adults, and Bars must close one day before Ramadan until one day after the second Idul Fitri," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Wednesday (3/22).

For other tourism businesses, they can still operate with some adjustments. In the circular letter, the operational time for the tourism business mentioned above has been set at a maximum of 11 PM. The payment process (close bill) must be made one hour before the closing time for business operations, thus all operations have stopped at 11 PM. It is done to honor Ramadan and still pay attention to transition period towards endemic according to Home Ministry No. 53/2022 on Prevention and Control of Covid-19 during Transitional Period towards Endemic.

He emphasized that the tourism business mentioned above must also close one day before Ramadan, the first day of Ramadan, the night of Nuzulul Quran, one day before Idul Fitri/ Takbiran Night, as well as the first and second days of Idul Fitri celebrations.

Tourism business operations must also maintain a conducive atmosphere during Ramadan until Idul Fitri. Not only regulating operating hours, this circular letter also stipulates provisions for organizing tourism businesses.

The following rules apply during Ramadan for orginizing tourism businesses:

- It is prohibited to place advertisements/posters/publications/as well as film shows and other shows that are pornographic, pornographic, and erotic in nature

- Do not cause disturbance to environment

- It is prohibited to provide gifts in any form and type

- It is prohibited to give opportunities for betting/gambling and distribution and use of drugs

- Must respect/maintain a conducive atmosphere during Ramadan and Idul Fitri

- Requires every employee and visitor to dress modestly

- Tourism businesses in food and beverage business that are not regulated in Circular Letter must use a curtain to honor the fasting person

"This rule is made for the common good, and it is hoped that tourism business actors can follow the rules that have been set. There will be sanctions for each violation in accordance with applicable regulations," he asserted.
