Heru: LRT Jabodebek Can Reduce Traffic Jams in Jakarta

Acting Governor of Jakarta, Heru Budi Hartono together with Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi conducted a direct inspection of the LRT Jabodebek project at Halim Perdanakusuma LRT Station, Thursday (3/23). This visit aims to ensure that the LRT Jabodebek project runs according to schedule.

The minister appreciated the Acting Governor for intensively coordinating Jabodebek LRT, Indonesia China Fast Train (KCIC) and intermodal routes bound for Jakarta. The minister assessed that it was impossible for urban and intercity mass transportation to run well without intensive coordination.

According to the President's directives, Indonesia must improve its urban and intercity mass transit capabilities. He said the LRT Jabodebek has a sufficient level of domestic component (TKDN). He said the TKDN of LRT Jabodebek was more than 50 percent.

"We from Ministry of Transportation are ready to work hard to coordinate all of this. We must be proud of the work of this nation's children. We're trying to ensure that this inner-city and inter-city mass train is with the right process," he expressed.

Besides the construction project, this review also ensures safety and service aspects. LRT Halim Station is the meeting point for trains from Dukuh Atas and from Bekasi for those going to Bandung.

"Mr. Governor also gave a lot of notes on how to provide services to the public for easy entry. Insya Allah (God willing), this year, we can use the LRT Jabodebek from Bekasi, around Bogor to Dukuh Atas," he said.

He went on to say that the integration of the LRT Jabodebek with mass transportation to Jakarta has had a positive impact in terms of reducing Jakarta's congestion rate.

"Because there was an idea to unite with Halim and others. I'm sure that for Jakarta it's good too because those from Bekasi, Bogor, and even from Bandung don't bring a car, so it reduces traffic jams," he explained.

He ensured that coordination between the Ministry of Transportation and the Jakarta Provincial Government would be intensified to ensure that the LRT project runs following schedule and that all aspects, both service and safety, can be fulfilled.

"Alhamdulillah (thank God), this is already running close to 90 percent, but we have to do well in five to six months, as that's where we ensure safety, ensure the service runs well," he added.

The Acting Governor uttered that based on a report from the Development Assistant that the East Jakarta administration had conducted socialization regarding the plan for the physical construction of the access road on Jalan DI Panjaitan since two months ago.

"Despite it is being processed at BPN, the community or parties who are indeed affected by the access road to DI Panjaitan are ready for us to carry out physical development. It is not a problem and we will support. Including the concept, for instance, from Bogor to Halim will be connected after Development Assistant makes a communication with Jasa Marga," he explained.

He added if the LRT Jabaodebek is completed on time, residents will feel the benefits. One of them is to minimize private vehicles entering Jakarta.

"Please support all elements, this is the golden time until October 2023, hopefully, it can be on time and in November, December, and so on that aims to parse traffic jams in the city," he closed.
