Poor Breakwater on Karya Island Being Repaired

The Seribu Islands Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency is repairing the poor breakwater on the northeastern side of Karya Island, Panggang Island, North Seribu Islands.

Hopefully, the breakwater can more robustly withstand waves and prevent beach abrasion

Seribu Islands SDA Sub-agency Head, Hendri said repairs to the breakwater at the site included rearranging a 250-meter-long massive cube that had fallen apart from being hit by the waves.

"Approximately 150 massive cubes have been re-arranged neatly to withstand the waves. This repair has reached 70 percent so far," he said, Monday (4/10).

Next Week, Repair of North Side Breakwater on Panggang Island Completed

He explained the process of repairing the breakwater has been started on March 29, 2023, and is targeted to be completed after Idul Fitri.

"We deploy ten workers there. Hopefully, the breakwater can more robustly withstand waves and prevent beach abrasion," he stated.
