Construction of 21 Infiltration Wells on Lancang Island Completed

The Seribu Islands Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency has completed the construction of 21 infiltration wells in three RWs on Lancang Island, Pari Island, North Seribu Islands.

They are built in inundation-prone areas

Seribu Islands SDA Sub-agency Head, Hendri expressed the 21 infiltration wells in three RWs had been built on March 25 and were completed on April 8.

"They are built in inundation-prone areas. We involve 19 workers to make them in three RWs," he expressed, Tuesday (4/11).

Construction of Infiltration Wells on Tidung Island Completed

He explained those wells were built in the size of 40 x 40 centimeters with a depth of around 50 centimeters to one meter. Each well is connected to the other with distances between wells ranging from eight to ten meters.

"Hopefully, it can accelerate the infiltration of rainwater, thus the area can be free of inundation," he uttered.

Pari Island Urban Village Head, Muhammad Ardian appreciated the construction of 21 wells in his zone. These wells are believed to be a solution to dealing with inundation in an eco-friendly way.

"Wells can also be useful as groundwater reserves during the dry season," he stated.
