Illegal Railway Crossings in N. Jakarta Closed Down

General Directorate of Safety for Transportation Ministry has closed down illegal railway crossings along the Ancol Train Station in Pademangan Timur Urban Village, Pademangan, North Jakarta, Tuesday (3/3). In the upcoming April, the commuter line train (Jakarta Kota-Tanjung Priok) will use such railways. As planned, the closed crossing railways would be used as a Ancol Train Station platform.

Pademangan Sub-District Head, Yusuf Madjid stated, there were 3 points of illegal railway crossings closed, such as Jalan Pademangan III, Nalo Market, and under Pademangan Flyover. Meanwhile, the railway crossings around public road such as Budi Mulya and North Land Apartment scheduled to be installed with doorstops.

“This is not public road, there was initially a fence here, but damaged after being marred by locals. Perhaps they saw the intensity of the passing goods train is slow or only twice in a day compared to commuter line train which takes every minutes,” Madjid told beritajakarta.com, Tuesday (3/3).

 

He conveyed the operation of commuter line (Jakarta Kota-Tanjung Priok) was in accordance with Jakarta Governor's mandate regarding transportation mode that simplifies the citizen access.

“From business sector, if it is calculated, this will be a loss. How many passenger who wants to go to Kota Train Station? It means transportation mode doesn't consider profit or loss, but service only. Our hope is North Jakarta citizens who want to go to Bogor can be facilitated, considering our public transport has been integrated," he uttered.

Head of Public Relations for PT KAI Regional Office (Daops) 1, Bambang S Prayitno expressed the sterilization along the railway will be intensified continuously. Besides public service, the risk of traffic motorists should also be prioritized.

“We're cooperating with local government and headmen. We held socialization to citizens that we did not want any casualties. That means, we also provide service and transportation mode to them,” he disclosed.
